Pikey is now a race hate word.
A gardener is thought to have made legal history after being convicted of racially aggravated harassment for using the word 'pikey'.
Lee Coleman repeatedly used the term, a derogatory reference to gypsies and Travellers, in a drunken outburst over a nightclub entry fee.
He was arrested after hurling abuse at a manageress and punching a bouncer at the club.
The 28-year-old denied the charges at first before pleading guilty.
He told the manageress, who had asked him to pay the £3.50 fee to enter Bugatti's in Crowborough, East Sussex, in March to 'p*** off', magistrates in Lewes heard.
Prosecutor Simon Allen claimed Coleman had said: 'I'm not paying you, you pikey.' When told to leave he added: 'She is a pikey, she has nicked my mate's jacket.'
Coleman, of Crowborough, was given a 12-month community order and told to do 200 hours of unpaid work. He was also ordered to pay £50 compensation to the doorman and £100 court costs.
He admitted assaulting the bouncer.
The Crown Prosecution Service said it was unaware of any previous convictions for using the word 'pikey' in a racial context.
In September, Marco Pierre-White was rapped for using the expression 'pikey's picnic' on ITV reality show Hell's Kitchen. It sparked a row with ex-Blue star Lee Ryan, who walked out of the show.

Beat someone up and the Police are not really interested but call someone a pikey and no stone is unturned to get a conviction. The only problem is pikeys are not a race so how it can be racist I dont know and the fact that the person who he called a pikey presumably wasnt a pikey means just calling someone names can get you a criminal record. My view is that the scrote should have had the book thrown at him for assaulting someone but to treat name calling as an equal or more serious offence than physical assault is just crazy.

Free Speech or censorship.
I posted this on the Crowborough People Website 2.25 pm.Lets see how long it takes before it gets deleted.
Speaking to someone in Heathfield and was told that the Heathfield Partnership
is registered as a charity and has its own website whereby you can view the
constitution,members and accounts etc .
If Heathfield Partnership can do it why cant the Partnership in Crowborough that cant be mentioned be as open and transparent. The lack of transparency and the enthusiasm for shutting up anyone who asks awkward questions could indicate that something is being hidden from the taxpayers of the town.Secrecy only breeds suspicion-nothing to hide nothing to fear.

Crowborough Partnership-New name.
I am going to publish this on here because my original post was removed from Crowborough People website on the whim of a certain member of Crowborough Partnership who makes up for a lack of sense of humour by a penchant for anti free speech censorship.
The Crowborough Chamber of Commerce (CCC) and the undemocratic Crowborough Partnership are merging under one name. They are now to be known as CCCP.
It wasnt that funny but it obviously struck a nerve-The flak is heaviest when you are over the target.

Crowborough -repression of free speech and no democracy.
There was me engaging with corporate handyman Martin Ellis on Crowborough People about the undemocratic nature of forcing through pedestrianisation against the will of the public and enquiring about the financing of the Crowborough Partnership.Mr Ellis failed to justify his position and typically started to make ad hominem attacks when his argument was lost.
What do you think the next step was in furtherance of a mature democratic open debate.
1) Martin Ellis comes back with a killer retort that seals the argument in his favour.
2)I decided that his argument for pedestriansiation had its merits based on Martins mature argument.
3)Martin Ellis whinges to the moderator like a spoiled teenager and gets all my posts removed.
No surprise really -in typical CP style it was number 3.
If people cannot engage in a healthy lively debate then they should go and live somewhere else where that attitude is encouraged-North Korea would be the ideal choice.
Free speech is dead in Crowborough and laid to rest next to democracy and accountability
